Strategic Minerals Spain is part of the European project H2020 Tarantula, which seeks to recover critical raw materials from mining waste, using metallurgical processes that respect the environment, are sustainable and of low cost.
On June 4 and 5, the launch meeting took place at the TECNALIA facilities in San Sebastian. It is a collaborative action of 16 partners from 7 different countries, whose objective is the development of new methods of recovery of three metals of high technological interest: tantalum (Ta), niobium (Nb) and tungsten (W), using a diversity of innovative technologies (bio-, hydro-, iono-, piro- and electrometallurgical), which allow to develop an efficient and respectful process with the environment.
This European TARANTULA project is funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission (Grant agreement ID: 821159).
Start date: June 1, 2019
End date: May 30, 2022
